Testing Program
Upon entering Porter Academy, we review reports from outside agencies as well as conduct our own battery of assessments. Based on information ascertained, we 1) decide on best academic placement and 2) write an IEP that details the areas in which each child struggles. We then routinely re-assess using both informal, curriculum specific, and standardized assessments to track progress and adjust groups, techniques, and/or IEP goals as needed.
Students receive:
- Academic Screening: Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT 4)
- Detailed Academic Assessment of Reading and Math levels * Woodcock Johnson Reading Diagnostic Test * Brigance Comprehensive Inventory of Basic Skills - Revised (CIBS-R)
- Expressive and Receptive Vocabulary Assessments
- Occupational Therapy Evaluation that assesses 1) sensory processing, 2) psycho-social functioning, 3) auditory processing, 4) fine and gross motor skills, 5) visual perception, and 6) handwriting
- Supplemental testing may be performed as needed. * Language Processing * Articulation * Peabody Individual Achievement Test (PIAT)
