Camp Extraordinaire
Many parents tell us that by the end of the summer their child has “lost” skills gained during the school year. Our goal with Camp Extraordinaire is to prevent that from happening while providing a fun summer day camp experience.
The Porter Academy Summer Program offers cross-curricular, integrated, thematic units. Students reinforce and improve their Reading and Math skills while enjoying fun, high interest content that incorporates Science, Social Studies and Art. Cooperative games and social skills also have a heavy emphasis. Students are completely immersed in one theme each week.
Our program is further enhanced by in-school enrichment activities provided by outside professionals such as the Art Barn, Chattahoochee Nature Center and Nature in a Nutshell.
The Program
- Camp Extraordinaire welcomes kindergarten through rising sixth graders
- Low student to staff ratio of 7 to 1
- Groups of 5-8 students meet for academic classes based on their age and skill level
- Social skills are developed through teamwork activities and practiced throughout every activity
- Recreation activities include nature walks, group sports and other games
- Creative activities include arts and crafts, music and drama
- Our integrated curriculum ensures that Reading, Writing, and Math skills are developed in creative ways throughout both the morning and afternoon sessions
Morning Session 9 am - 12:30 pm
- The morning academic program emphasizes maintaining and building skills in Reading, Language Arts, Writing and Math.
Full Day
- Camp Masters combines both the morning and afternoon sessions to give your child the best of both programs in one full day (9am - 3pm).
