Students participate in Music Therapy each week. During this time, students develop skills such as
Listening and following directions
Listening, repeating, or singing along
Moving rhythmically to the beat of music, clapping rhythms
Understanding music theory and vocabulary
Appreciating different types of music and music from different cultures
Separating finger movements during keyboarding
Listening for pitch and loudness
Identifying instruments by sight and/or sound
Expressing oneself through music and movement

| Based on Dr. Suess' book "My Many Colored Days", students express their own feelings through color and movement | Students learn about various instruments and are given opportunities to play many of them. Students are also taught to read and write music. | Students learn to associate different types of movement with different types of music. |
