Our Mission

Porter AcademyPorter Academy is dedicated to the education of children Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade who have not been successful in a traditional classroom setting. We serve children who have difficulties with sensory processing, visual processing, auditory processing, language processing, attention (ADHD), motor skills (dyspraxia), dyslexia, executive functioning, social skills, and self-esteem. Our goal is to help each child develop and appreciate his or her abilities, thus enabling academic, social, and emotional success throughout life.

Our Approach

We utilize a developmental approach to ensure that all of our students have a solid foundation for higher level learning and social tasks. All students receive occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, and music therapy within a group setting. Porter Academy also offers students the option of participating in the Integrated Listening Systems program that develops the vestibular and auditory sensory systems with resultant benefits in academics and social functioning. Combining the various perspectives and areas of expertise of our therapists, specialists, teachers, and experienced administrators allows us to develop a comprehensive understanding of the whole child. This level of understanding enables us to truly help each child develop and be successful.
